Our code of conduct

At Gabriola Softball Association, we believe that everyone deserves a fun, safe, and respectful experience. Our code of conduct outlines the expectations for all players, coaches, umpires, and fans to ensure a positive atmosphere for everyone involved.

Frequently asked questions

We've put together some frequently asked questions regarding our code of conduct. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to a team captain or umpire.

What kind of behaviour do we expect from everyone involved in Gabriola Softball, like players, coaches, and fans, to make sure everyone has a fun and respectful experience?

Our league wants everyone who plays to have fun and stay safe, we hope our code of conduct supports that goal. We expect all players, coaches, umps, and fans to abide by the code of conduct and show good sportsmanship, kindness, and inclusiveness to all who attend games.

What are the most important rules for fair play, safety, and making sure everyone feels welcome and included in our softball games and activities?

While gentle, good natured teasing and chirping is considered part of the game, we do not tolerate rude behaviour, violence (or the threat of), insults, or vulgar language/gestures directed at anyone. We also don't tolerate tantrums, throwing of equipment or arguing with our umpires.

If someone isn't following these rules, what should people do or who should they talk to about it?

If you feel anyone has violated the code of conduct please talk to a team captain/coach about your concerns.
