Our story on Gabriola Island
Discover the heart of the Gabriola Softball Association, a cherished part of our community since 1996. Learn about our commitment to fun, sportsmanship, and the dedicated volunteers who make it all happen.

A community tradition since 1996
The Gabriola Softball Association began in 1996 and has consistently hosted between 6 to 8 teams. We are proud to be one of the longest-standing recreational sports leagues on Gabriola Island, providing a vital social outlet for over 100 community members each spring and early summer. Our league is run entirely by dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure its continued success.

Our values: fun, safety, and community spirit
Our primary goal is to provide a fun and safe sport option for individuals aged 16 and older. We deeply value community spirit and good sportsmanship above all, always with a healthy dose of friendly competitiveness. We believe in creating an inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy the game.

Dedicated volunteers keep us going
The Gabriola Softball Association is entirely volunteer-run. Our amazing volunteers are passionate about keeping this positive community league thriving. Our current board of directors includes President Brandi Meyer, Vice President Sandra Burton, Secretary Dawn McGuire-Reeves, Treasurer Matt Dow, and Members at Large Tannie Meyer and John Forth. We also rely heavily on our league members for fundraising, field maintenance, and coaching.
We also want to recognize the amazing support and help given by the RDN in park maintenance and upgrades and our fabulous groundskeeping crew provided by Phoenix Grounds Maintenance who keep our park and fields in tip top shape!
